Sorry people; been a bit remiss lately - very busy with work that is keeping me away from the AGF, and Jason had to do Woodstock.

To update you...

Ebony blank:

Fret slots cut:

Bound:

and side dots in:

Pics of the neck coming soon.

Cheers,
Steve

And as promised...

Here's the bare wood:

Channels for the rod and carbon cut:

Headstock facing going on:

and here it is glued up:

Marking out for...

...Jason's trademark headstock carve:

...and the fretboard finally glued to the neck:

That's it for now; getting there and very excited.

Cheers,
Steve

I know some people like a severe U shape on their neck, but this just seems a little extreme to me.

Ready to receive the neck:

Yes, I think it fits but the ******* fingerboard is a bit too long!

Well known luthier provides flimsy excuse to take picture of his chisel collection:

Now this is centred rather better on my main region of interest...
This is the heelcap being glued on apparently:

Have to admit Justin, the neck still looks pretty difficult to play on this last pic; I hope things improve?

Cheers,
Steve

Looking so good. Hey, what were those black strips on the inside-back between the braces?

To be honest, i don't know - I assume they're there to add a little bit of support in between the braces and I thought they were ebony but they could just as easily be carbon fibre. Anyone else know?

Steve

I was guessing the same thing. A work of art no doubt!

Jason tells me that they are ebony and they add additional support in maintaining the domed radius while also helping to prevent cracking

Tx Eric; my instincts were right but I didn't know for sure.
