Default 2021 Circa OM-40 German/Braz

Hey everyone. I've been a longtime lurker and I guess my first post ought to be something special. I know most of the posts here are in-progress builds, but I thought I might share a guitar I received about a year ago from John Slobod.

When John and I started talking about the build, the direction we targeted was developing a versatile guitar that worked with my right hand playing style - which is no picks or fingernails. We settled on German spruce over a very dark piece of Brazilian rosewood.

John is a true master. The exact sound I was fumbling to convey in words was the exact thing he delivered - sound seems to explode out of this guitar. I don't have to dig in very hard with bare fingers to get those clear, fat trebles that John's guitars are known for. And with the Brazilian, you get that big, lush, reverb-y low end.

I guess we'd call this an OM-40, as it took great visual inspiration from the 000C-40 that was built for Fine Luthiers.

Well, you're certainly starting at the top!!
That's a beautiful guitar, which is typical of John.
But his balanced tone is even better.
Congrats and welcome.

Default Circa OM-40

That is one gorgeous guitar. John is the best to work with and I'm glad to hear he built the guitar the way you wanted it. Enjoy it for many years.

That is indeed one of the many advantages of working with John. There are very few builders with that kind of wood selection.

That's something I can understand well, even if I play with a pick too...
So, I'm curious, what string spacing have you chosen for your right hand ?
And yes, congratulations for this very nice, and I'm sure, very fine sounding guitar!

Chris.
