It does look great - my Christopher Dean is French Polished and you just have to live with the fact that just breathing on it leaves a mark.

Yeah, my Sands is FP too...it's the price you pay for having that extra freedom of movement I guess!

Default Polish finished

The final coat of polish is now done, bridge being fitted.

Default Finished

It’s completed now, strung-up and sounds (apparently) pretty good!

I like the way the design has come together, the chunky heel, the martinesque headstock, the simple rosette, the stylised bridge, the simple fingerboard. The blending of the classical body style with some more modern steel-strung elements makes it both interesting and modern (but not in a way that it will date too much).

Steve is going to ship it on Wednesday with luck so it should be with me on Thursday...perfect for the weekend!

I will feedback once I have played it for a while...I will also share some photos of it when it's hanging on the wall with the others.

It's looking good and seems to work aesthetically, but I'd change those Schallers for Schellers.

It's probably better he sends the guitar to me and I'll fit them for you as a favour

And here is the finished item.

Initial impressions are that it’s good…very good. I have owned some low-end classical guitars in the past and this is a different league to those. I have played lots of high-end classical guitars but I’m not a sophisticated enough player yet to know how this stacks-up against them.

The fit and finish is exemplary and the quality of French polish is better than I have ever seen before.

It is a thing of great beauty though and I will have a lot of fun getting to know it!

And here’s where it will sit alongside the Sobell New World, the Martin OM28 Authentic 1931, the Sands OMc and the Hahn telecaster.

Congratulations…

I recommend that you make yourself or buy something like this product like this (https://www.stringsbymail.com/string...ges-15619.html) to protect your top during string changes. FP tops can damage easily. The one that I am showing has a 38 mm opening. Measure you bridge to see what you need.

That's a great idea!

Okay...

I should stress that this is the first time I've owned a proper nylon guitar so the technique is still rather new to me!

Well done - suits the nylon guitar very well indeed.

Get the thing on your left knee, headstock up!

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve. Yes, we learned the together with Clive...(limited repertoire for nylon so there aren't many things I can play yet) hence the fact it's out of retirement!.

I will not be putting it on my left knee as I have no aspirations to be another Segovia!
