Default *SOLD* 2002 Collings CJ Mahogany/Adirondack Iced Tea Sunburst, Collings Case

Hi all —

----------------
This guitar sold, thanks Adam!
----------------

I just purchased a special SCGC OM42 today, and am selling this Collings CJ. It’s a guitar I spec’d with Steve McReary’s help and purchased in 2002. It’s Mahogany B&S and an Adirondack top, spec’d to have the best woods on hand at the time of build, with the SJ inlay on fretboard and headstock, tortoise binding, and an “Iced Tea” sunburst. I supplied the firestripe pick guard material that I sourced from a luthier in Southern Virginia, and they cut it and applied it. They didn’t have firestripe available at the time.

I put a set of fossilized walrus ivory bridge pins in, and had Frank Ford at Gryphon Stringed Instruments install the strap pin that came with the set of pins. I have recently (2019) put on a set of new Waverly Tortoise-buttoned tuners.

This guitar is in excellent condition, but is 20 years old, has a ding on the headstock (shown below), and some finish sinking (also visible in photos). Otherwise in terrific condition, recently set up at Gryphon. New set of EJ17s on it 2 weeks ago.

I am selling it with choice of case: $SOLD with a Collings Traditional Hand Made case (in photos), or for $SOLD, it comes with a brand-new Collings-labeled TKL that came with a CJ45AT.

US sales only. An in-person transaction in the Bay Area would be great (had so much fun meeting up with TimL to buy his OM42 — great seller, watch for anything he lists!). If we need to ship, we can split the cost of shipping.

Thanks!
Marc

If I didn’t already own a Collings CJ I’d be all over this. Excellent price, especially in the current market. These guitars sound great and can really do it all.

Default Photo of fret wear -- visible, but modest

Hi All --

I had a request for a photo of fret wear -- there is some, I think it would polish out without screwing up the intonation, which is fine as it is.

Cheers!
Marc

Thanks for this note -- it's the guitar I've owned longest, and isn't getting enough play, so this is the window for the next player!

I am returning Marcs' compliment on his purchase of my OM.

I will say that I have never seen the guitars he has for sale on the forum, this one and the Pre War. I did have the pleasure of seeing 3 of Marc's other guitars during the 2x we met and they are top shelf, had great tone and were well taken care of. With what I have seen I would believe these guitars are no different. If I was in the market to buy, there would be no reservations.

Good Luck on this sale.
Tim
