New original: Other Side of Fear
I saw something on Facebook the other that said "everything you want is on the other side of fear". Something about that intrigued me, and I ended up writing it. This song uses more "jazz chords" than I've ever used before. Definitely different than what I typically write (chords/melody-wise).
"Other Side of Fear" (David Pennybaker) Headed off to college / A thousand miles away If I could make it there / Maybe I’d turn out OK My whole life before me / So far I could not see You took my hand / And said these words to me Ain’t nothin’ holdin’ you back / Except the great unknown Or maybe the thought / Of goin’ it alone Whenever you think / You can’t get there from here Try lookin’ on / The other side of fear Sittin’ here beside you / Holdin’ your hand Listenin’ to you / I begin to understand If it’s hard lettin’ go / As your soul is set free I’ll help you remember / Those words you said to me Ain’t nothin’ holdin’ you back / Except the great unknown Or maybe the thought / Of goin’ it alone Whenever you think / You can’t get there from here Try lookin’ on / The other side of fear It’s just around the bend / Over that next hill Where you’re supposed to be / Hopes and dreams will be fulfilled Ain’t nothin’ holdin’ you back / Except the great unknown Or maybe the thought / Of goin’ it alone Whenever you think / You can’t get there from here Try lookin’ on / The other side of fear |
