Default If You Could Read My Mind - Live video added - Doug Young & Teja Gerken Duet

Teja and I played a house concert last night, and over the weekend the host told us she was a huge Gordon Lightfoot fan and asked if we knew any - we didn't... But we quickly came up with an arrangement of If You Could Read My Mind, recorded it remotely, and played it together for the first time last night. We may get a video performance at some point, but here's the recording we made while working it up. I'm playing my Claxton EM, Teja's playing his DeSio baritone.

This recording is also on Spotify, Apple Music, etc

So, so beautiful!! That baritone is incredible in this tune!!

Pretty incredible work in how you "quickly" came up with the arrangement....LOL.....would likely take me "forever"!!

Beautiful job on this Doug and Teja. I suppose it's the circumstances, but this time it seems to have a sadder context than I am used to hearing from this song.

Doug & Teja,

A fitting tribute to GL and very well done. Your arrangement and playing had me closing my eyes and picturing him singing along with your music.

Thank you for posting, appreciate it.

Someone actually filmed the house concert where we played this for the 1st time, so maybe... I think it will take a while before we get the footage.

It was a nice event:

Thanks, Kev. I used the N22s for my guitar on this - tho combined with my Brauners, about a 50/50 mix. Teja recorded the bari at the Peghead studio, which is sort of acoustically treated - meant for video production, not audio, but it likely helps - with a pair of KM184s and his Anthem pickup.

Indeed! Hearing this without the words, gives it a melancholy, introspective flavor. Well done! A very timely tribute.

Thanks, Barry. There's something about having a deadline that helps :-) I've got tunes I've been working on for years that aren't ready, but I guess mainly because there's nothing driving me to complete them.

Oh my, that was gorgeous Doug and Teja.

Mark Hanson also has a really nice solo acoustic arrangement of that tune that I worked on for a while that I put off to the side. Been meaning to get back to it so this has provided some inspiration.

Thanks for sharing!
