Default Ever have a guitar you can’t put away?

My wonderful wife has given me space in our project room downstairs for my guitars.
I keep a couple up on the main floor, cause I pick one up and just play a few times a week.
For variety I tend to switch them out every week or so.

I keep the CF upstairs due to the lack of humidity. The humidifier on the HVAC won’t keep the space much over 30%.

But this durn Guild won’t let me take it downstairs!
I love the way it feels in my hands. I love the way it sounds.
Usually, I’ve gotten tired of a new 12-string in a week or three.
This one has been up here for almost two months!

I haven’t spent more than ten or fifteen minutes with any of my six strings since I got it back from some repairs.

It’s not my only 12. But for some reason I can’t bring myself to swap it out.
Please tell me I’m not the only one.

Give it another month. Some 12-strings take longer to get tired of than others.

Guilds can be wonderful guitars. Very cool that you are getting so much pleasure from yours.

As far as your question, I am enjoying my new Kramer lots and lots but I still have no trouble putting it back in its case. My humidity stays pretty stable but I just feel better having them stowed in their case on a guitar rack when I am not playing them. Another one of those many personal preference things.

Best,
Jayne

Mine goes back in the case as well.
I just can’t seem to take the case back downstairs.
I usually keep three up here. But the wife has five Christmas trees up.
She is tolerating me having two up at the moment.
And the Guild is in a big honkin’ SKB hard case.
I may have to just “bite the bullet” cause I’m getting a hankering for a certain six string that will also have to live in its case when not being played.

I have owned several 12 strings over a 40 year time span
All of them were fun at first and them after a few months they saw less and less playing time.
A lot had to do with the difficulty to tune and the huge necks.

My current 12 string is a Yamaha LL-16-12 and it is a joy to play.
The neck is much more comfortable than any of the other 12 strings that I once owned.
The guitar is easy to tune and stays in tune even when capos if I use a G7th 12 string capo with the compensated pad.

When you find the right 12 string, it is wonderful.

Yep. My Heritage 575 is always out, no matter what other guitars I might be working with...probably because it sounds great plugged in but also sounds lovely unplugged for practicing quieter than a flat top.

That's the beauty of a humidified guitar room: all my guitars are always out.

I have an old SG Standard like that. For the last couple of years, it has sat next to the small amp and gets picked up and played almost every day, at least for 10-15 minutes if nothing else.

When I got my D-41 a few months ago I had intentions of keeping it in its case. I have several other good, but lessor guitars that stay out. But that D-41 plays and sounds so good it has me spoiled. I keep it on a stand ready to grab, and I grab it a lot. Even if only for five minutes of blissful playing...

I keep my new Taylor 320 in the case. Humidity is around 60-65% right now. But I am wearing the hinges out. I’m constantly pulling it out throughout the day, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

I've had my Lakewood Bari for almost 4 months now. It's commanded about 80% or more of my play time

There have been a few others over the years, but not to the extent this one has me intoxicated

No you're not, but it's not me.

I'm lucky enough to have three guitars that are really different. After a few cups of coffee, there's the beginnings of a song or mood in my head, and I pick up the one that makes it the easiest to execute.

Deep down, it's my fingers that make the decision. But it's OK, "You just to play along" -- as some decent songwriter once said.

For me the most recent acquisition always gets the most play time because it is so much fun getting to know a new guitar. I have shoulder issues and just bought my first 00 size guitar, so it is also the most comfortable guitar I have to play. It's hogging my attention right now!

I get the other guitars out occasionally too, so there is no jealousy towards the newbie in the guitar room. And they all stay in their cases when I’m not using them.
