Used, would love a Martin but yeah right,Alvarez yairi is on my
Radar but they seem to be a little on the jangly side

What else is available?

Though they aren't Rosewood, at $700 I'd search on reverb.com for a Guild D-25, 35, or 40 from the 1970s that doesn't need a neck reset.

I’d probably be looking at a BR-160 or an E8D in that range.

I wouldn't presume to use the term "definitely", with so many fine guitars in your price range...

Many good suggestions so far, but a Yamaha LL16 would be worth a solid look. It's not *quite* a dreadnought, but is for most intents and purposes.

It's right there in your price range, all solid, and very finely appointed. Frankly, it compares VERY favorably with Martins and Taylors costing thousands more.

I second the Yamaha LL16R - this is an all solid wood rosewood dread.

i thought i needed a dread, ended up with a GA Taylor. I really was better off with something more comfortable to sit with on the couch!
