Clip-On Tuners
I have a few Snark, D’Addario and Fender models and they’re OK but I’m not happy with any of them. I’m looking at the TC Electronic Polytune or Peterson Stroboclip HD tuners. Any recommendations?

I have both.
In general I prefer the poly clip. It’s an amazing little tuner. The Peterson HD is also very, very good. A bit bulkier than the TC, but still small enough to keep it on. If sweetened tunings are important the Peterson is the way to go. If not, I would recommend poly clip. IMO.

Here is an option: TC Electronics tuner without the poly tune function:

Those ARE my recommendations. They are both excellent. For me these days the Peterson Stroboclip HD is my go-to tuner.

Polytune for me. Best tuner I've ever had.

I've used Snark tuners in the past several times. They are so inaccurate, for me, as to render them useless. They'll get you reasonably close, but if you have decent pitch it won't be satisfactory. I have a Peterson Stroboclip and like it quite a lot. It does the job well, easily, and accurately. I've been using Peterson products for a long time and have always liked them.

I'll second that. Peterson is a bit too hard to dial in. Snarks seem nowhere near as good as the Polytune.

Peterson Stroboclip HD for me... easily. Best clip-on I've ever had.

From a band doing "we just disagree"?
So would the venery term for these be a 'cacophony of tuners'? Or is that just a collection of random acoustic players doing a sound check? Don

I have polytune or the monotone (I think only Sweetwater sells that version) on all of my guitars.

I also have the PolyTune and the Peterson StroboClip, and I'll reach for whichever one is closest when I need to tune. Snarks are meh, in my experience. I also liked the D'Addario clip-on sound hole tuner, which was unobtrusive and seemed quite accurate, but the clip broke after about a month and I've been reluctant to get another until I hear that the design and/or materials have improved.

I have both and the Peterson wins hands down, IMHO.

Reminds me of the old saying: A man with two wristwatches never really knows what time it is.......
I do OK with Snark, but also sometimes tweak the tuning by ear afterward. |

The Polytune and Peterson clip-ons are head and shoulders better than Snark and the others. Snarks can be as much as 12 cents off in either direction. I got a couple Delta Lab tuners 2 for $5 and they work better than Snark. For the most part I don't use clip-ons except on rare occassion. If you're plugging in anywhere for $20 or so you can buy a Korg CA 40. Spot on and easy to read. I often daisy chain it with a Korg Pitchblack so I can use the Pitchblack as a mute switch even though it too is a good tuner.
