Matchbox 20 Album - Yourself or Someone Like You

Something my brother and I would listen to while doing weekend chores when we were growing up. In particular, a song called "Shame". Great song but whenever I hear it, I immediately think of cleaning the house. Funny how music and memory can bond together so intensely.

The majority of the time, I've got music on shuffle, but I've got a few that I listen to complete;

Supertramp- Breakfast in America
Emerson Lake & Palmer - Welcome Back to the Show that Never Ends
James Taylor- One Man Show

I do the $5/month subscription to commercial-free Pandora. Yes, it's worth it...especially listening to music at the gym.

I listen to the following stations I listen to while cleaning:

AC/DC
Def Leppard
Toad the Wet Sprocket

if the kids are around...
Paul Baloche
Chris Tomlin

Oh, that's funny. My wife is a fantastic pianist, born with perfect pitch. Give her one cup of spiked eggnog during the holidays and she's good for about three hours of TV jingles and soundtracks, sans sheet music.

We call her the human nickelodeon.

Grateful Dead. Preferably a long jam.

Or depending on my mood, some random blues.

At the moment it's now Brian Sutton Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle . At the age of 60 I've now discovered the magic of Bluegrass ( thank goodness for Apple Music )

If I'm cooking, and the Missus is out while I'm doing it, I tend to put something like The Lonesome River Band on, because she's not a big fan of bluegrass. (a little bit goes a long way for me too, actually).

My chores are otherwise either running a vacuum or cleaning bathrooms, so I'm not listening to music at all. When I'm done, I'm more likely to pick up a guitar or mandolin and make it myself.

I do the vacuuming and floor washing. Every Thursday night while my wife does the real dirty work. It takes us about an hour to do the whole house.

Recently it is wireless headphones and Mississippi John Hurt on shuffle via Amazon Echo. Pete Huttlinger, Tommy Emmanuel, Stephen Bennett are all good for cleaning, too.

I usually don't go for vocals while cleaning (kind of disturbs my wife for me to sing along very loudly to something she can't hear ) but if I do for this kind of work I like Gordon Lightfoot, Jackson Browne, Jason Isbell....

Riles, great choices. I loooooove her version of "The Water is Wide." The final verse has both J.D. Souther and James Taylor singing harmony and every time it gives me goose bumps.

Thanks for sharing.
