My solution for replacing monitor speaker stands
I don't have enough room on my old desk for my monitor speakers, and I used to have a cheap bar stool at each end of the desk for each speaker.
But I bought a 2x10 at the hardware store, stained it, and laid it across my 1940's Army Surplus desk. |

I had the same thing for a long time, but my desk isn't as wide as yours and it was a little unstable (as realized during a minor earthquake!) My speakers are also a good bit larger than a standard studio monitor (B&W 8" two way about 10 by 10 by 18 and 20 lbs) so they need something solid!
It's important to get the tweeters at ear level, and I made some small stands for the desktop version like yours to achieve that, but when B&H had a sale on these at 35 shipped and I went back to them. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...tor_stand.html

You might want to consider some Sorbothane 1/2 spheres to decouple the speakers from the boards

Even with those, I'd be concerned that board laying across the desk is going to do something funky to the sound because it's still going to vibrate against the desk. If I had to go with that set up, I'd screw the board into the desk or glue it to the top.

I've had a few different versions of the "add on bridge". This iteration is made so the Presonus Eris 5's can be positioned out from the wall, angled to where I sit, and the tweeters are ear level. My laser printer desk lamp and a few other items are also on the bridge.
I add the spacers to accommodate whatever else I want on the desk, so the PC fits nicely, as well as some controls stuff and my Blackjack interface can be slid back underneath when I'm not going to use it for a while. The keyboard and wireless mouse are on a pull out shelf of the small desk and some other stuff resides on the desk shelves below. The bridge is attached solidly to the desk's top, so no worries about rattles. Headphones and various cords hang from hooks attached to the left side of the desk. This is in a small room and works out very nicely. |
