Default SOLD-Baxendale Silvertone H1260.

SOLD

This old 60’s Silvertone was gone through and completely rebuilt by Scott Baxendale of Athens, GA in March of this year. Scott takes these old solid-wood, US-made Harmonies, Silvertones, and the like, and rebuilds and re-braces them into completely solid instruments that have what he calls “world-class tone”. For instruments that we’re originally ladder-braced, Baxendale’s proprietary scalloped X-bracing opens them right up. If you’re looking for an old guitar with the looks and “mojo” that only 50 years of playing can give you, for the fraction of the price of a comparable Martin or Gibson of this era, maybe you’ll want to take a look at this one. I’d encourage anyone interested to visit Baxendale Guitar’s website and learn more about his philosophy and rebuilding process. I paid close to $1900 for this instrument from Scott 3 months ago. Please keep that in mind if you’re so inclined to make me an offer. Includes installed K&K pure mini and new Baxendale custom HSC.

Trade value ~$xxxx. I’d like a J-series Gibson, but I’m open to anything! Let’s trade!

What's the scale length? Back/side wood and any pics of the same? Also, any possibility of getting a sound sample?

The nut is 1-3/4. Scale length is 25-1/4”. String spacing is also fairly wide. It’s a wonderful fingerstyle guitar. The guitar is solid spruce over mahogany. The H1260s were kinda Harmony’s last shot in trying to produce a higher quality instrument, from what I understand. Sound is similar to a deep body OM, to my ears.

Here’s a shot of the back. I can provide a simple strumming video via text/email. Feel free to DM me if you’d like one!

Waiting for a conversion from Scott as we speak! I loved the H1260 I played in his shop.

I can vouch for the Baxendale conversions. He did my 1956 Gibson LG-1 and it came out incredible. Superb tone and playability. It's very balanced and resonate now, compared to the stiff boxy guitar I sent to him.

Fear not skeptics of the Baxendale magic. He was a luthier for Gruin's back in the day, among other accomplishments since then, and knows his stuff when it comes to vintage tone and vibe.

I have no affiliation with Baxendale Guitars other than being a happy customer.

Bump! This guitar is a great way to get your hands on some of the Baxendale magic discussed above at a lower price/trade value! Looking for Gibson, but would also consider a slot-head 12-fret! Let me know what you’ve got! I feel like I would also be able to find the right off-the-shelf used J-45 with a reasonable offer on this if I shop around a bit...
