Default National Trick-Or-Treat Day??? What the ....?

Who the...? What the...? Let's just change everything to a convenient time or place. Sorry. Another gambit by those who profit from holidays or event days to make more money.

"The Halloween & Costume Association (HCA) founded National Trick or Treat Day in 2019 to extend the Halloween season. In 2018 they launched a national petition to change the date Americans celebrated Halloween."

It has been Oct. 31st for a reason and, to me, should be left alone. It only happens one day a year and has already gotten bloated and overdone by many. I say - LEAVE IT ALONE - What say you?

Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of Hallows' Even or Hallows' Evening),[5] also known as Allhalloween,[6] All Hallows' Eve,[7] or All Saints' Eve,[8] is a celebration observed in several countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide,[9] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.[10][11]

Never heard of it. Just found an article that mentions to have this on the last Sat of Oct. What a bunch of baloney (for lack of a few much better words).

Fall is my favorite time of year, Halloween is my favorite day of fall/year. Yep, leave it be.

For a while the UK started copying this "trick or treat" nonsense.
Apparently there was much concern about letting the children out after dark, so they had to be accompanied by a responsible adult which many found very embarrassing about their kids begging.

My local website carries a map showing which houses are accepting begging kids - and in a square mile there are about three.

Supermarkets still full of unsold pumpkins.

LOL, "begging" ... I don't think you understand the tradition, the meaning of the word, or possibly both. But that's ok, cultural traditions often don't make sense to one from a different culture.

Sorry Silly, but I don't see this at all. Kids where I live get dressed up and go trick or treating. I don't know anyone who considers it begging.

OK, so when I open the door and the kids yell 'Trick or treat' my response would be "I'll have a treat please"?.

Why would anyone ask for a trick?

Whoever came up with this idea needs to have their jugular ripped out by a werewolf and then trampled by Frankenstein's size 18s.

Nothing new here. Wipe off your crusty selves and move on. I'm a baby boomer and from childhood remember my little town and some moved the trick or treat night to the weekend closest to Halloween.

Also nothing new about the whining. There wasn't social media like this for your whining. It was on the local AM radio call in show. I recall the chamber of commerce lady in town would defend the move, some said it was convenient, and the 1960s versions of Internet whiners did their whining. My posse of pals in the neighborhood were convinced it was better - that we had a better haul of candy on the weekend. I remember that we worried about what age we could no longer do the trick or treating.

See, that is truly crazy. Here in Texas EVERY day is chicken fried steak day. Might as well have a Breathing Day.

Just saying.

It’s pretty harmless and an American tradition.
Sorry it grates on you. Anyway, have a wonderful day.

Yea Halloween is one day, one day only, not a holiday. Really gets on my nerves how people go all out for something that is twisted totally out of shape. Just a money making exercise.
