ToneDexter Effects Loop Question
I’m using the TD and want to toss a reverb pedal into the effects loop. I’m messing with it and can’t figure out the wiring since there’s not FX send and FX return like I’m used to seeing.
Should the TD 1/4” out go to the input of my reverb pedal and then the reverb pedal output to the effects loop at the rear of the TD? I’ve got it wired this way and I’m getting no sound.

The tip of the 1/4" TRS is the send, the ring is the return... how you actually use that, I don't know since I'm not an effects loop sorta feller.

You need something called an "insert cable." It's a Y cable. TRS -> input + output of the effects loop.

To use the effects loop, you'll need what's commonly referred to as an insert cable - a stereo 1/4" (TRS) to dual 1/4" mono - one side wired sleeve/tip for the "send" and the other sleeve/ring for the "return".
You can get fancy, or this would work: https://www.amazon.ca/Hosa-Cable-STP...70_&dpSrc=srch |

Thanks for the input. Glad to know I wasn’t crazy. Kind of disappointing that a seperate cable is required but considering the TD’s capability, it’s a small inconvenience.

I was coincidentally about to add some stuff onto a small board w/ my ToneDexter (EQ and maybe a reverb), and I had been thinking I would just have to 1/4" out to the FOH until this thread made me realize I should look at the effects loop.
I built a little insert cable from some bits and bobs I had lying around, and it works like a charm. Nifty! |
