Default A true hero

I just wanted to recognize James Shaw Jr. for his heroic act in the
Nashville Waffle house shooting. It takes real courage to charge an armed shooter and take him down bare handed. He saw that the shooter had to reload and took the opportunity to make his move. A split second decision that saved several lives that day.
We all hope that we can show such bravery in a situation like that, but we don't know what we are capable of until confronted with the choice. I'm glad Mr. Shaw had the right stuff to do what needed to be done.

Thank you James Shaw Jr.!

Yes I agree and I think the news media should running hundreds of stories celebrating him instead of celebrating the deranged perpetrator.

Takes some real guts to counter-attack an armed guy with using nothing but your bare hands.

Hat's off to Mr. Shaw!

Scary situation indeed. Took a special person (James Shaw) to do what he did.

Hats off and a huge thank you to Mr. Shaw. I wish it weren’t necessary, but I’m glad someone with courage and skill was around.

BTW, I heard that Shaw started a go fund me page for the victims families, and has already raised 90,000 dollars! That is incredibly thoughtful on top of his bravery!

Just thought we needed to recognize Shaw's bravery. I also saw that he is raising money for the victim's families...Kind and brave...we could use a lot more of that.

It's up to nearly 150K now. All of it to benefit the families.

True that.

Saved lives. Now helping the victims.
It's kind of uplifting to know there are people like that in our midst.
The news these days are otherwise always so negative.

This is a very nice thread to honor a very brave guy. Leave the politics out of it or it will go away.

Thank you.

I very much appreciate what he did when faced with a horrendous situation. And I very deeply appreciate how he has conducted himself since then. May he be blessed with great happiness, and all the causes of happiness and peacefulness.

One of the most notable things about him is, in one interview, he downplayed his actions. He said he wasn't thinking of saving anybody else, although that's the popular mindset people want to hear. He was thinking, "If he's going to kill me, he's going to have to work for it". Such candor and humility, on top of his fundraising efforts, is beyond words for me...a real example for folks...

Some are able to recognize and acknowledge his heroism.

Others are not.
