Cost of neck reset
Can anyone give me an average cost for a neck reset on a 1979 MARTIN M38?
Thanks |

Where do you live...?
Costs for things differ significantly by area. |

In Northern California near where I am, the going price is from $700 to $1100. Those are actual quotes that I received within the past 5 years from calling several shops. Given the amount of work and the risk involved for the person doing one, those prices seem reasonable to me.
Martin resists doing neck resets anymore so it's either pay an expert or study how to do it yourself. |

Lot's of things come into play with a neck re-set. Condition of the frets, the nut, the finish..... so any general price is just a ball park.
In my shop a Martin reset where everything else is pretty much good to go and only needs a light level and crown at the end and shim under the saddle would be in the $400-$500 range. But if your frets are worn down, you need a new nut and saddle and the finish needed extra work that can easily go to $1000. |
