Acoustic Guitar | Upbow neck | Trussrod stuck & can't be loosened
Hello,
Could some of you experts help me out on this one or direct me towards some posts where i can find the answer on how to repair this issue? I noticed i had a lot of buzzing on the first frets (E, A, D, G strings) when i played hard (which is usually my style). Nut relief is OK, and the action is fine too. There was almost no relief when checking the gap in the middle. But when i used a straight edge, i noticed the first frets lay under the rest, and thus that i had an upbow in the neck. I wanted to loosen the trussrod, but the washer just comes off. It's still possible to tighten the trussrod, but not to loosen it. Does anyone know how i can repair this so i can loosen the truss rod? Thank you! |

It happens, for repair, we sometimes slip the fretboard or defret level and refret.
Another plus for dual action truss rods. Steve

You have a classic warped neck.
In addition to Steve's recommendations I have also been known to install a 2 way rod to fix the issue. While the re fret option is often the cheapest path back to playability if the wood is not done moving it can be for naught. |

The guitar still plays OK in standard tuning. I just can't hit it too hard.
Would there be a cheap/easy fix on increasing the relief (fixing this slight backbow of the neck)? Would a help by (temporarily) putting 0.014 gauge string on the guitar? Trying the clamp the bow out of the neck? Just thinking about some quick fixes. It's not a first grade instrument, but still a very fine guitar that i would like to get into best playing shape (it's a Suzuki Three S 1977 F-200 Made In Japen guitar) |
