Sox. Of course. Some Raleigh folk remember that the farm team there was the Sox before the Cards moved in [emoji3]

You're older than I am...

Or you have a better memory.

Older by just a tad. I did follow the Cards, too. I reckon the 67 series was hard for some Raleigh folk to figure whom to root for. Yaz came up through Raleigh, got married there.

But lots of guys on the Cards passed through Raleigh, too. McCarver did and probably Brock?

The Carolina League hatched a few hall of famers.

Brock came from the Cubs in the infamous "Brock for (Ernie) Broglio" trade. The Cubs still regret that one.

Thumbs up Summer pastime

Always a Detroit fan. But even bigger, a fan of baseball. If you haven't seen Ken Burns epic on the game, put it down as a summer movie

I read on the internet (So it must be true!) that Chicago White Sox had a total of 974 people in the stands the other day. Also the Marlins are being out drawn by a minor league team down in Florida. It seems that folks are getting a little OD'ed on the $5 bottle of water and $10 beer, not to mention parking, ticket prices, etc.
Minor league baseball is popular because it is played by guys trying their hardest to get to the "show" where minimum salary is $526,000 plus benefits and is more reasonably priced for the fans. Guess all that doesn't matter 'cause the big money for the clubs is the merchandise and the TV revenue!
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching good baseball, especially in the Fall during playoffs.

My wife scored her annual free Pavillion seats at Fenway tomorrow from a client. Last time we'll get those since she's retiring soon, so we have to go even though I am not remotely interested in baseball right now. Talk to me after somebody hoists the Stanley Cup, then I'll be ready to shift focus.
