Default bad reverb buy

I bought a Yamaha guitar that cannot be adjusted to my liking
Very little saddle and truss rod is no longer adjustable
I will ask for refund but I know it may be difficult to get
Never again
Dave

If you paid via PayPal or credit card it should be no problem. Item not as described.

Why do you KNOW it will be hard to get a refund?

I have to agree with these guys. Especially, if you haven't even tried to initiate a return yet.

Doesn’t matter how nice it looks, if the guitar arrived not as described Reverb should and very likely will take your side (assuming the seller doesn’t just refund you). Reverb almost always sides with the buyer in cases like this.

The saddle is easily replaced...but if the neck is big problem that's another story. Are you sure the neck will still be an issue if a new saddle is put in?

The reason there is little saddle left is because the owner lowered it to compensate for the high action resulting in the neck being pulled.

Adding a taller saddle will increase string height and make it unplayable.

That guitar would need a neck set now.
Lesson: ask for pictures of the saddle height (more importantly overall string height above the soundboard) as well as current action height.

Kind of depends on how low the action is now?

A lot of assumptions flying around. I’m sure he’ll do fine - it’s not his first guitar purchase.

My experience with Reverb is that they usually side with the buyer on returns. They are not guitar experts and if the buyer says that the guitar is not as described, I think they generally believe them. I always describe an instrument that I might be selling very conservatively. I never say mint, even if it is. Im even reluctant to use excellent. My go-to would be very good. I also try to put in detailed pix and highlight any issues, like a ding/ scratch, etc. Even then, it is sometimes difficult for Reverb to decide and I think they just go with the buyer.

I had one bad experience on Reverb selling a gsmini. It was about a year old. Never left the house. One of many instruments, so it only got occasional play. Didn’t describe it as mint, described it as excellent. Buyer contacted me after a few days and said there was excessive fretboard wear. Reverb refunded his money. I was out shipping but did wind on quickly reselling it to a happy buyer. Made me a little leery selling in the future. Now I much prefer craigslist unless it’s an item that might only have a very limited local market.

Anyway…being the buyer, you should be good.

Interesting that you think that - it is owned by the Chicago Music Exchange........ They are indeed instrument experts.

The thread title implies that Reverb is at fault in some way.

That is clearly not the case.

Hard lesson. Incumbent on the buyer to verify to their own criteria before the transaction.

Never buy an online guitar without satisfactory side views of the saddle and string height at the neck to body joint.

The only way I see Reverb reversing the not as described remittance is if the written description stipulates saddle height condition.

There are tons of used guitars out there with sellers selling instead of spending $300 for a reset.

Good luck on getting it returned though. Maybe there's an angle? If so let us know.

Where did the OP state that the guitar is "not as described?"

All he shared with us is that it's "not to his liking." That alone is not enough to warrant a refund.

There is not nearly enough information being shared in this thread to daw any meaningful conclusions about this particular guitar or this particular Reverb transaction, let alone Reverb transactions in general.
