Default My New Waterloo ,and a couple "new songs"

January in south-eastern England is no fun.

Dark skies and persistent wind and rain. The cat has lodged an official complaint.

We both have cabin fever, but Jane went out for a "Coven coffee morning" so I gave up on paperwork, and recorded a couple of little songs on mky latest acquisition - a Waterloo WL12.

This guitar sounded pretty awful when I first got it at the end of November.

With the aid of tired strings and a very dull sounding D'andrea Pro-plec 1.5 m/m it sounds almost nice to me but your comments are always welcomed.

This is an Amos Lee number (I'm told) that I heard being played on Saturday evening:

This is a Peter Rowan song :

Comments/criticisms always welcomed.

Sounds great to me. Nice playing, nice singing, and the guitar sounded really good.

Hey Andy, your Waterloo is opening up now versus when you first got it. This is the way with most Collings products, I'm sure you know after owning many yourself. My first Waterloo was a used WL14X, I picked it up at a reduced price but the guitar had opened up and didn't have that new sound anymore. It also is from the first year production, 2014, so it had nearly a year and a half of playing time behind it. I have since bought two more Waterloos, a black ladder braced 14 and a Deluxe. The black one took about 4 months to start getting nice and squishy and now the Deluxe is starting to yield the same result. Yours sounds a bit warmer now and hopefully that's what you want. Well done!

PS, tell the cat to take up knitting!

I will also add that once I started using Daddario NB 12-53 strings, they added lots of bass response and less quack. The only strings I use on my two 14s now. Yes they're silver in color and look more like electric guitar strings but try them, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Between those, Monels and Aluminum Bronze you can't go wrong.

Very, very enjoyable. I love your relaxed approach to the songs. And, yes, the Waterloo sounds great.

Smooth playing, wonderful voice and sweet sounding guitar. May old man winter continue to keep you churning them out.
