We've got angle, tilt, nice heel to body fit!
Maybe some frets tonight.

Skreeech. Frets not yet. I rechecked the radius of the fret board. I did 16" because I have a real nice long aluminum 16" sanding block. Then I buffed the fret board to high shine.
Then I started filling in little heres and weres, fine shaping the neck. Checking for (and finding) scuffs, gouges and scrapes.
In about an hour I am going to start detailing the sound hole area. Tomorrow a final body neck sand. Hopefully I will have some Shellac juice for French Polishing.
The Tuners are on the table. No Niel not the slotheads!

Neck is off. French Polish started. Super Glue is my best friend.
Achieving neck angle

To protect the back while I use it for pull leverage.

Getting there

Getting close and finding the high spots

One bolt in. The second needed a few tries

Oooh, man. I am impressed!

At this point it all looks like voodoo to me though.

Grappa was made for drinkin' not for Shellac unfortunately. Didn't have enough purity for melting.
I have revisions I want to go over with Marti. Using her sketches I think I have it.
Cool to see ya hanging out here! Seeya soon.

Well it went well till I ran a razor through the side of my index finger. New razor, didn't feel a thing
I have been talking a big game while beating my head on magnetic attachment of the Butterfly soundhole cover. Then it hit me. Two mini magnets (in 3 locations) stacked. They will hold it in place by friction. 90% sure it will work. It was working great right up till.... slice. I'll do the rest of the fitting today.
I got the 2 lb Shellac melted and run through a coffee filter. Now for some serious French Polish. Guess I better turn up the heat in the shop a bit. Should go pretty easy. Sycamore and Maple do not require grain filling.

New razor meets index finger = easy fix.

You love super glue. You love butterflies.

Seal the cut with butterfly bandages, apply super glue to the outside skin only and within seconds - WAH LAH... you are cured.

Brace for a slight sting!
And DON'T use activator. Besides the sting, you'll have burns.

He loves that stuff. I think he wants to be mummified in it when he kicks the bucket!
