That's how I feel about it, also. Thanks for the information and the advice.

So, I ended up getting a D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee made in New Hartford. So I guess I'll get to try my Adirondack top out after all. Thanks for the advice everyone.

I'm jealous. Enjoy your Guild.
I sure enjoy mine.

Curious why the tacoma years ?
my experience is that the original guild company made the best D-40's ( actually not fond of Fender company ones ) i actually had two D-40's from that Early guild era -

There was a Tacoma era guitar that I was considering buying, it was a fun looking guitar at a good price, I wanted to know more about it and Guild history in general.
I ended up with one made in New Hartford. Part of it was that I wanted an Adi top, and from what I can tell, Guild is a great way to try that out. Not sure how much I will really be able to compare that top to my other guitars, though, since they all are not Guilds. But it'll be a fun experiment anyway. |

I got my D40 brand new in 72 just after I got out of the Navy and it was my #1 until recently when I decided to pass it over to my 15 year old Grand Daughter who is quickly becoming one heck of a picker. Talk about putting a grin on her face.

Sure! That's a beautiful guitar right there, makes me more excited about my own D-40 arriving on Monday.
