FS/FT solid wood baritone
SOLD
I have a solid wood baritone guitar with a nice TKL hard case. I bought this from the kid who fixes my bicycle. He built it as a student at Galloup guitar school. I sort of bought it out of a sentimental, "Gosh, that's the kid who works on my bike" feeling. I never play it. I just don't have time. http://photobucket.com/galloupstudentbaritone I'll try to add more pictures this weekend. I'd like either $600 shipped/PayPal/CONUS or a trade. It's big and it'll cost a bit more to ship, so the price is firm. Better would be a trade for something like a Fender Hwy 1 Strat or Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Studio, or maybe a tenor banjo. Just ideas. I'm trying to think of things I'll actually use & I'm big on made-in-the-USA instruments. I'm not really interested in anything Pac-Rim. Sorry. It's a solid spruce top, big leaf maple body, five piece neck (I believe mahogany, then maple, with a walnut core but I'm not absolutely sure the center line is walnut), ebony fingerboard and bridge. About a 28.5 inch scale length. It hasn't been played much but there is a significant scratch through the finish from the upper waste headed toward the soundhole where it looks like the kid dropped a tool. ( I keep calling him a kid. I'm getting old.) There's a very slight dip to the end of the fingerboard. It may be that he didn't humidify this at some point. It's not a serious issue. Intonation is right on. The playability is fine. No issues. The guitar is built lightly - I suspect more lightly than most factory guitars - and has a nice open tone. I currently have it tuned with a custom set of strings so that I could play cello tunes and fool around with songwriting ideas. CGDABC. Yeah, that's an odd tuning, I know. It's also a lot of fun! But I have an extra set of baritone strings to throw in, and it really growls tuned to B or C standard. Really, this one is just to see who would like to try a baritone without spending 2-3K on a brand name, but would also like to not buy a cheap import. It's a pretty nice instrument that I'll never play. Might as well swap it out. Try me. Last edited by flagstaffcharli; 10-16-2012 at 05:56 PM. |

Maple is not my thing, otherwise I would give this a go.
Looks like the kid did a darn nice job.

Thanks. As far as I can tell the pictures link works. If anybody can't see them I could try to email the link.
Yes. He did a great job. There is good workmanship all across the board. I understand Galloup is a good school. I think the instrument shows that he has the potential to be a great builder. His thing now seems to be bicycles and banjos. Nice guy too... Last edited by flagstaffcharli; 10-13-2012 at 10:36 AM. |

[QUOTE] my guess is you can see them if you have a photobucket account, if you don't, you can't. Everytime I tried to open it it asked me to log in.

Honestly, I'm not sure what's going on with the link. I can view that link from all my devices even when not signed into my Photobucket account. My apologies. But the above link might also work. The picture posted above is great except that it doesn't show the scratch because of the lighting. I will take more pictures tomorrow. There was a question about neck angle and saddle height. Both good, but I'll try to get a picture that shows this clearly. Thanks! |

that one works!!!!!
Two things you haven't listed (sorry if I missed it) are nut width and saddle spacing....

I do have a PhotoBucket account and store my pics there. I've linked them into several AGF posts, no problem.
But when I click this link I get the error message: We're sorry, we cannot find the page you requested. Please check the URL for correct spelling and capitalization.

More details
Adding pictures to http://photobucket.com/galloupstudentbaritone and http://s734.photobucket.com/albums/w...arli/Baritone/. It's all flash photography. Apologies, but the day slipped awaay from me. Hopefully at least one of these shows the top scratches.
Saddle spacing measured from outside of 1st and 6th strings is roughly 2 3/8 inches. Nut width is about 1 7/8 inches. Action at the 12th fret lowest string - 6/64th. at 12th fret highest string - 5/64ths This is with the guitar tuned C G D A B C and fairly light strings. I grabbed strings from a baritone set and a regular medium set to get this tuning. A question that was asked was about the build quality. There's no warranty, obviously. The bridge is secure and there is absolutely no evidence of any bellying or other issues with the top. As far as I can tell, this ought to handle B or C standard tuning for years to come. The neck angle is good. There's plenty of saddle left. I'd be surprised if anyone would want the set-up to be lower. At 28.5" scale length and with fatter strings, the set-up is about as low at the 12th fret as my regular guitars. You can see the scratches clearly going from the sound hole to the upper waste. (The string reflections on the top are also visible. Those aren't scratches) It's a thumbnail you can click and enlarge. Last edited by fitness1; 10-14-2012 at 08:00 PM. Reason: pics |

Well, I will give it a bump. Then maybe I'll list on some other forums and see what's out there. Trade offers are welcome. Thanks for looking.
