Hey Tom ... I'm definitely partial to this set too. I'm a sucker for that really defined spiderwebbing in the grain!

In between making the frame and getting the top and back ready to strut, I often start making "parts", i.e. purfling and the neck blank ... so the build flows smoothly later in the process.

More "parts" prep ... getting the peghead veneer sandwich glued. These sandwiches take forever to dry, so it's great to get them done ahead of time. In this case it's a thin veneer of Ziricote on top, then a veneer of white holly, a thicker veneer of snakewood, and another thin veneer of white holly. When the edge of the peghead is finally bevelled, it will give a subtle binding effect.

Hey Steve ... thanks ... I'm happy with the way it's looking so far!

For the first forty years of my career my chisels were a hodge-podge of mismatches that Larrivee gave me, and some inexpensive Marples that I bought early in my career thrown in. Then 7 or 8 years ago I made an instrument for a gent who was a pro builder back in the '70s (and a great guitarist). When he picked up the instrument on completion, he gave me his old set of Japanese chisels, which are spectacular. A sweetheart of a guy who has since passed on.

Such delicate work with that router. This guitar is shaping up to be another stellar Wren!

Thanks Tom! Those little Dremel routers definitely come in handy for this type of work, that's for sure.
