Hi Guys
on the verge of upgrading my classical Admira A 15, wanting a all soilid instrument, budget is £700.
Went to a great store, Music Street in Huntingdon Cambs, so many to choose from!
I was shown a La Patrie concert CW QIT. I thought my Admira was nice, but this thing is in a totally different leauge!
Obviously being all soild, Cedar top and Mahogany back and sides it felt so much heavier than my Admira, just felt quality.
The neck being very slightly thinner makes it feel much more comfortable than regular Classicals, the action and sound was incredible!
I'm very close to trading in my Admira for this beauty.

Any thoughts/ owners of the make? I am pretty sure the La Patrie brand is made/owned my Godin, all hand built in Quebec.

P.s Any recommendations for a small budget home amp, cheap n cheerful but does the job?

Thanks Guys.

I have a La Patrie Concert but no electronics. I don't play "classical" music, but I am extremely happy with the sound quality of this instrument. The build quality and finish are outstanding. I replaced the original equipment strings (who knows how long they had been on the guitar before I bought it) with Savarez 520Ps with wound trebles. Loved the bass response. I'm quite pleased with my choice. Its a great guitar for the money.

Just for your info, I play almost exclusively finger style and mostly music from the 60's folk era. Some music just sounds better on nylon!

Thanks for the reply.
I'm studying Carcassi at the moment, but also dont plan on playing only classical in the future, it just seems like a great learning tool.
I totally agree about nylon, sounds so mellow, beautiful i think, i'd never go back to a steel strung acoustic.
Best of luck Buddy and Thank you.

Default I have the Concert model (cedar top)

I have the Concert model. I've had it for about 6 months. I have no complaints. I like the sound and feel. Easy to play and the action is just right.

In the nylon string world, heavier is not necessarily considered a mark of quality.

OTOH, if it sounds good, then it is good.

My take on the La Patrie line is they are great nylon string guitars, maybe not great classicals, but far better than many inexpensive classicals for jazz, bossa, and other "nylon but not classical" styles.

Not great Classicals is fine with me as i dont plan on playing only Classical music in the future, but other styles too, so the versatility of the La Patrie is just perfect.

I have one on order.

I believe the reason that it's heavier is because it has a truss rod in it. I know nylon string guitars don't normally need one but it's because of the rod and the 24 in. radius neck that I ordered one. Plus they get good reviews.

I fancy one of the arenas with rmc or graphtech hex pickups in it, i wonder how it would sound.......its a pity they don't make them with more electronic options.😀

Got it Rob,
can't fault it, the action was what first got me, easier and with the slightly thinner neck just so much more comfortable to play, sound is full and very rich, havent even got an Amp yet but tried it plugged in at the shop and it was even better...Best Guitar ive ever brought, she's a keeper this one!

While searching for one, I saw two different head stock designs. Does anyone know if there is any difference otherwise? Nut width etc.

As per links.
