Default On a misty morning - Emerald shines

There is an old joke in the Pacific NW that the sun doesnʻt come out until after 4th of July - mostly true. Itʻs jacket country, drizzleville. We have massive trees and gorgeous scenery, but itʻs not sandal weather.

I somehow managed to have the place all to myself and it was misty & grey. It was warm enough to be outside in short sleeves. We live on a couple acres in the woods, there is a wall of hundred foot plus trees surrounding me.

Tired of flat walls, I grabbed my Emerald and hit the backyard. Planted under a wide red maple for an umbrella.

My X-20-12 sang out across the meadow with abandon.
The mist collected on her gloss.
The birds responded from tall fir trees.
The dog fell asleep.

By the time my fingers gave out it was time for a sweater for me and a towel for both guitar and dog. Yup, just wiped ʻem down.

How cool is that? Wow.
The coolest.
Bless you Alistair & Thank you Sean

A slight diagonal across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from the Olympic Peninsula: the San Juan Islands. I have been playing my Emerald X7 indoors and out when not working. It has been cooler this summer than then last several... not many times I can be outside in short sleeves... yet.

The old saying about "flipping a switch on the 4th of July for dryer, warmer weather" hasn't materialized this year. Working on the boat, it has been 3 (or more) layers thus far. May be the thinner blood of this Gulf Coastal boy?

But, you have to appreciate the ease of carbon fiber. And the sound. And the feel.

Ah yes CaptnJim - CF is new to me and it was an awesome experience.

It has been weird to do my yard chores in a coat and thermals! Beginning to feel like an onion - just one layer on top of another.

Enjoy that boat, the Sound is too cold for me.

An onion? I have been feeling more like the Michelin Man.

Since May, the Emerald has traveled with us from the humid Gulf Coast to the hot, dry Arizona desert, and now in the cool, damp Pacific Northwest. Sounds and plays great.

Takes me a while to acclimate. Forecast for the next 10 days puts daytime highs mostly in the mid-60s. Some rain. Some wind. That would be a colder than normal winter week in January at our home in the Tropical Tip.

You PNW folks are tough. Nice to have a guitar that can take it, too.

Your post creates a beautiful image and sounds like a great time, quite the opposite of our 90 degree day here....very nice! Thanks

The PNW is gorgeous. Day off yesterday, so out for a little sight-seeing...

From last week...

And looking across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at the Olympic Peninsula...

Did you see me waving?

We have noticed a much cooler this summer down here in California too - at least on the coast. I had to take a trip through the valley near Sacramento last week and I saw a temperature of 107 after 5pm. After staying the night because of fires I got back to the coast and back to a high of 61 and fog. My X20 was still perfectly in tune.

Hi guys,

Great pictures from the road Jim, thank you for sharing with us! We actually recently did an interview with a friend of ours who took an X5 Opus on an expedition to Antarctica. We look forward to sharing the video on how he got on with it with you very soon!

Best Wishes,

Sean
