Default What's your home office look like?

Do you have a home office? Do you work there ~40 hours/week, part time, or is it where you do non-work activities? Upstairs, downstairs, windows?

For those who don't have a dedicated home office, do you 'squat' somewhere for office stuff, such as for work, paying bills, etc?

I've been working from home since March. I like my office. Main floor, two big windows which face the road and the rising sun. I'm hoping that the sun will help me with vitamin D this winter and keep my mood up.

How about you?

Hi Dru,

You know, I don't think you can get much vitamin D through glass, as it screens out the UV. You might want to look into that. Vitamin D2 supplements are available, maybe that's the way to go. Or streaking.

My home office isn't exactly like this, as we don't have a cat, but you get the idea.

No home office, fight traffic every day to drive to work.

We have an office/music room. We have French doors that open into our family room so if I'm working from home I can wave to my wife in the other room

I have an office/library/music room. Even though I'm retired it's an absolute mess right now.

Yes. It's easily the prettiest room in the house with a lot of wood and a lovely coffered ceiling. Unfortunately, I've never been happy with my arrangement of the furniture, so it's still a work in progress.

I converted our third (smallest) bedroom to an office when I became self employed in about 2005, to manage a contract purely from home.

I bought a triangular "computer" desk, then built storage and work tops on three walls with a sliding tray for a Yamaha DAW and mics storage etc.

There is a bass guitar, a banjo, and two guitars hanging on the wall. behind me and a beautiful ancient bitsa stereo high on shelves above me - which I've discovered is the best way of "opening up" new guitars and those which have gone to sleep.

What does it look like ? A mess!

I have a three room suite with a separate entrance above the garage. It allows me to stay home without hanging around the house all day. I keep it neat and tidy.

Like it used to be a bedroom.

My wife and I have both worked at home for years (when not traveling on business). She got the first floor legit office and I converted a guest room upstairs. Sleeper sofa, L shaped desk in the corner, credenza with printer and file space, big bookshelf with a TV. Also has 3 wall hangers for guitars and all my gigging equipment-amps, mics, stands, pedals. It’s my room as in “I’m going to my room”. I’m quite the hit on Zoom calls as the guitars are always rotating a bit. Creates conversation with the team.

Time to play "Guess the owner of a famous desk" - first an easy one. Reverse image searches are cheating worse than a partial capo, and you'll feel bad later.

But yes, correct! One gold gravitational unit for you! Einstein's desk on the day he died.

People use this to reverse engineer the formula: empty desk = empty mind, therefore cluttered desk = great thoughts, but this seems a little too messy for me.

Barry, you are the reigning desk champion, and I will recommend you for a Tiny Desk concert of Celtic Airs.

Well done, and thus concludes season 1 of name that desk.
