Coincidentally I saw someone using a pay phone just this morning. Makes me kinda wonder where in the sticks everyone is living that you haven't seen one lately. They're out there and apparently being used.

I tried to find one a few years ago around NW Arkansas and was unable to find one. According to payphone-directory.org the nearest one is 50 miles away in Fort Smith.

Since the disappearance of most pay phone booths, I have not heard of any Elvis sightings. When pay phone booths were common, Elvis sightings seemed rather common. I suppose Dr. Who and Superman both lost out when these things went away too.

The last that I can remember was roughly around 98 or 99. I had taken an early morning road trip to Elderly Music in Lansing Michigan and had forgotten that Michigan followed daylight savings time and back then we (Indiana) did not so I was an hour early to the store with time to kill so I found a payphone and called my wife to let her know about my blunder. I cannot recall using one since.

I can't remember the last time, but I do remember the one I can't forget. It was on my paper route when I was in 8th grade. I checked the coin return and nearly every day there was something in it. I think it paid me better than delivering papers at 0 dark thirty. I've always wondered if someone was seeding it for me.

Guessing you're going to be the Winner for the most recent who used one. Was it outdoors?

Yes. I suppose there's enough people in NYC to make them still worthwhile for the company.

Don’t remember the last time I used a pay phone, but this photo from 2017 was the last time I made a call from a phone booth. Anyone know the location?

We have phone booths all over Metropolis, Illinois.

But I'm guessing you know why...

I drove the Hana Highway on Maui a few years ago. After about 20 miles of twisty, turny road, past George Harrison's estate, there is small snack shack.

Out in the parking lot is one of those drive-up telephone booths. It struck me as funny as it looked so out of place. I took a picture of it.

Any time I want - I have one in my game room - a fully functional wooden phone booth from the 40's with a light and fan that activates when the door is closed and working pay phone set to take 10 cents. Was always amusing when my kids friends would come over and try and figure out how to place a call on the rotary dial.

We just saw one yesterday- a fully functioning pay phone in the parking lot of the Bennington, Vermont welcome center. My 7 year old granddaughter was amazed and curious! I felt old.

Probably in the early to mid '90s when I lived in WV. I really can't remember the last time I saw on.

I was just looking at some photos I took seven years ago and came across one of a really unique pay phone in Bolivia that I would love to post here but I've been unable to downsize it to upload. Yes I've tried paint but am technologically challenged and never used that before.
You wouldn't believe how much time I've spent doing this and am now on the verge of giving up. I even renewed my charter membership in hopes of making it easier.
I know this would be very easy for some of you tech savy AGFers and wondered if anyone would let me email it to you and post it on this thread for me. Please pm me if you are up for it.
Thanks
Dave

OR--You could perhaps resize it and send it back to me and I could probably get it posted.

Feel free to send it my way: [email protected]

I don't use that e-mail a lot, so let me know here if you send it...
