A.J.Lucas All-mahogany 00
I've just finished this mahogany 00. I do like this shape/size and think it works very well aesthetically. The top, back and sides are all from a bed headboard that I was given. The neck is from a door frame from a school. The soundboard bracing is Douglas fir. I think only the fingerboard and bridge are not reclaimed wood, and the bridge was originally a blank for cutlery handles from a Sheffield factory.

Gorgeous as always, Adrian.
I love the traditional look, along with the rosette...a departure from your modern-design instruments.

Josh, if you follow Adrian's builds you'll see he uses a lot of interesting woods, including Doug Fir for tops, Yew for back and sides...and more.

Looks fantastic! Reclaimed wood has many uses but none as wonderful as making an instrument. So, how is the tone?

Thanks all for your kind words.
Larry, it's a refreshing change to do something more traditional like this amongst my more unusual designs. The sound has a nice crispness to it and a strong midrange. It gives an impression of evenness across the range if this isn't a contradiction to the previous sentence. As you'd expect it's great for picking bluesy ragtimey stuff. |

Yes I agree, absolutely gorgeous guitar.
I do like the 12 fret 00 size looks and mahogany seems to me to be unjustly out of favour at the moment - not wild and exotic for many tastes these days.
