_Mt 6 String Baritone Ukulele
I am very excited to share one. It's a 21.125" scale baritone ukulele with six strings tuned to standard guitar tuning. Made with Sycamore back and sides with a Western Red Cedar top. Bindings are Sycamore, neck Mahogany, and fingerboard/headstock/bridge Pau Ferro. The body and headstock are finished in French Polish and the neck Tru-Oil. Set up with low action, 20" radius fretboard, 1.875" wide at the nut, and 2.25" string spacing at the saddle.
She plays and sounds like a dream and has a sibling about to be completed as well, a tenor version. Below are a few photos (max amount sorry) of how she sits now and I have full documentation of the build. Maybe one of these days I'll post a build here... Not sure I'm ready. Thank you for the inspiration and for viewing this thread! Best, _Mike Last edited by mtracz; 11-26-2012 at 01:43 PM. |

She really sounds great. I know I'm probably a little biased but I was surprised by the volume and subtle touch. It really sounds more like a guitar than ukulele and is very comfortable to play. I will definitely make another for myself.
I am very pleased. Hopefully the new owner will be as well! Thanks for the kind words!!! I get lost in the details... _Mike Last edited by mtracz; 11-26-2012 at 02:46 PM. |

Great build! The woods complement each other nicely, and the figure in the sycamore is sharp. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thank you haolebrownie and ihs!
Unfortunately I'm a poor player and yes I tried... It just too embarrassing especially on a site with such a collection of talent. Maybe I can try and connect with the local music school and come up with an incentive for them to record for me. Thanks for stopping by! Best, _Mike |
