Default Ordering an X30

So...I've been through quite a few Blackbirds, Rainsongs, and Emeralds, trying to find my perfect guitar. I thought I was finally good with a custom x10...but my arms were too long for it...I was strumming over the high frets.

So I'm placing an order today for a custom X30. I can't wait. I've heard it's a canon and that's what I want...but also something I can play fingerstyle. I mostly play rhythm at church and fingerstyle on my own.

I love Emerald's veneers and can't wait to choose a new one...

How exciting! I’d love to hear more as the process progresses.

Speaking as the owner of the same model, your arms will definitely NOT be too long for an X30 LOL!

I. Can't. Wait.

Now I just have to figure out what veneer to pick...

I'll share the advice that I was given when at a similar crossroads. Emerald's glamour shots tend to accentuate grain much more than normal lighting so it's best to go with lighter colored veneers unless your crib is really well lit. Here's the raw veneer alongside my finished guitar. I've also included before/after shots of futboljim's Pao Ferro X20...

Thanks Evan. It would really help in ordering an Emerald if they had a page showing before/after shots of the various veneers....

You are going to love it! I just received my Padauk X-30 the week before Thanksgiving. It’s gorgeous and fantastic sounding.

I wish everyone would stop posting these Emerald guitar posts. I am trying really hard to ignore them, but everyone who owns one seems to like how they play and I think they look pretty darn awesome.

I don’t need additional GAS help. The curse of the N+1 rule continues to haunt me.

I don’t really need a another guitar, do I?

On the other hand, the estimated four-month wait to acquire a "custom" Emerald helps us mortals learn and practice patience, Grasshopper. I ordered my X20-12 with a satin finish and no electronics in August and had forgotten all but forgotten about until it mysteriously appeared in a shipping video several weeks ago. I'd ordered it as a Christmas present for myself, and here it was in November. Today it's OUT FOR DELIVERY....
