Default Karajan-Schumann rehearsal

Despite all the baggage/personality issues that followed the man, I found these little clips extremely fascinating. The fact that he instantly knows where he is at in the piece for nearly an hour while almost never referring to the score is particularly fascinating :

He had a controversial life, but what a remarkable conductor... one of my favorites to hear. He had a long, successful career with the Berlin Philharmonic and made innumerable recordings with Deutsche Grammophon which the rest of us can enjoy for a long time. Thanks for posting.
