NGD-and advice needed (Martin content)
So I went and bought my friend's Martin D-16GT for $200 (see link).
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=315617 Here are some pics and questions: She needs a cleaning and a pickguard: And now the REALLY painful parts: The crack: How do I get all this glue off? Is the saddle too low? Overall, it still plays nice and sounds great. I'm probably not going to go crazy trying to fix the crack, since it is closed. But any advice on getting the glue off would be most appreciated! I'll post "after" pics when I am all done taking care of her!

That's not a "crack", that's a fault line! Are there any luthires close by that may offer some advice? May have to be sanded off...???
The guitar I have that has a small crack is glued and stabilized on the inside, but that's not the question. Make it fun and take your time.

hope that it's water soluble. This isn't a repair I'd try at home, but a pro luthier in your area should be able to make this ok for around $400.

You know, I don't think that you should attempt to repair it. I think that you should just sell it to me and get your $200 back!
Actually, if you take your time I think that you could make it look pretty nice (not perfect); and any time you feel bad about the way it looks just remember Willie Nelson's Martin then you will feel better about yours! StewMac has a lot of do it yourself stuff on their website. |

A great example to us all !
Nice to see that guitar concerns come before any thought of housework ! |

oh yeah that background didn't even phase me. While the "public" part of our house is nazi-tidy, the storage/workspace is more apocalyptic. Well spent $200 if you can clean up the non-pro repair.

LOL, I was going to say excuse the mess, I was in a rush to take the pictures and didn't tidy up the background. I maintain my guitars better than I do "mess control" in my house!
