AWESOME...! Italian over mahogany is a great combo, I've owned from SCGC, rings like a dry aged bell...

Thanks guys. Looks like I’m going to run out of time before I run out of money and interest. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing

Very nice, Paul. Having a custom SC is definitely a bucket list item of mine.

The thinking on this design was a little different than other commissions or custom builds I’ve done. I played quite a few SCGC H/13 models and ended up getting a good deal with on a “stock” version 5 years ago. I thought it was an ideal guitar in many ways, but I was always a little put off by a certain punchy tonal quality when I played it with a pick. I kept the guitar for over a year, played it every day trying to figure it out, then sold it. However, there was a lot I missed about that guitar. My playing has changed a bit over the past 5 years and I’ve played a few more H/13 models that had the nuance I was looking for. So I had many conversations with SCGC about tonal wishes and expectations; and provided them with comparative sound clips demonstrating the tone I am looking for. They expressed confidence in being able to deliver. Based on past experience with SCGC, I feel comfortable they understand and proceeded with the build. The rest is all cosmetics.

This build is turning out to be very exciting, haasome! I'll be interested in hearing your impressions once you've had a chance to play it.
I admire the way you went about taking your time and playing several H/13s to help you develop a very keen sense of what you are looking for in your "ideal" H/13. Having never commissioned a build myself, I try to learn from all the threads I follow just in case I ever choose to go down that path. Your journey reminds me that it is more important to spend time figuring out the details of what my fingers and ears need to be happy than to waste time agonizing over every cosmetic detail that so my eyes and, perhaps more importantly, those of everyone else will be dazzled.
