Default song accompaniment ?

Below is just a short clip of what I call a basic pluck and chuck/slap. Do any of you use this method or know of any singer/songwriters who use this for accompaniment instead of strumming or fingerpicking?

Sounds good, 63. I think of this as adding percussion on 2 and 4. Reminds me of the beginning of Uncle John's Band by the Grateful Dead, where you can clearly hear the acoustic before everyone else comes in.

I can't think of any other examples, but I believe it is a pretty well accepted way to keep the groove going

Thanks, I listened to ed Sheehan and John Mayer and they seem to use this technique. Theirs is way more fancy and complex!
