Both fine guitars, I currently have a 000-18

00018 is on my lust list. I'd love one with Ambertone finish. I may just order one and wait.

I would add, having owned several 16’s and 18’s, in my estimation, the 18 Standard is way more guitar than any of the 16’s I had. |

To answer the other question, be proud of Granadillo. Though not especially common, it is a highly respected tone wood, and pretty too. You'll find a fair number of them out in the world if you start looking for them.

Yes but what about Armadillo as a tone wood?

I was looking for a small body Martin a couple of years ago. Played a couple of OM variants that really did not ignite GAS.
Shop owner then handed me a 000-18. First strum was Whoa. Played it a few more minutes and bought it. Like a good D-18, a good 000-18 is hard to beat. D

One thing I failed to mention in my other post...the 000-16 is HEAVY, at least compared to the 000-18, which is a featherweight. I guess Granadillo is a denser & therefore heavier wood than mahogany...I don't know.
AND...mahogany guitars smell awesome when you open the case, especially after they've been humidified with some Humidipak pouches a couple of days! |
