Emma, my grand daughter, is singing this song with my guitar accompaniment. Thank you Emma!

The guitar arrangement is my own based on transposed chords from the original key of Eb, which I found in a rather ancient jazz fake book I inherited from my mother-in-law. I am playing this in C with a capo on the first fret (C#). For reference, I believe that Judy Garland sang this in C for "The Wizard of Oz."

Thank you for listening!

What a beautiful rendition of this classic from both of you. I really enjoyed it.. Mahalo for sharing it.. Ron

Stunning.

As a companion piece I like to play When You Wish Upon A Star. Similar feeling and era.

Thanks again for sharing with us. Renewing my hope that great music will not die.

In the six years and around twenty five hundred posts I’ve been linked to, this is the absolute best vocal I’ve ever heard on this forum.

You’re doing good grandpa! Keep up the great work Emma!

Thank you Jack! I appreciate your kind comments!

Yes, this song done well really does add beauty to the world in some small measure. How nice of you! It's a demanding song to sing and a real tribute to the talent of Harold Arlen.

I did sleep well and hope you did, too!

Hi Nate!

Thank you! This song is so much like the music you and your wife have done so well over the years, so it's so very rewarding to read your kind comments!

I don't know if Emma will ever have time for another one of these songs, she is so busy as a college student. But you never know...

I hope all is well for you and your wife, Nate!

Thank you so much Bert!

I don't know what's with the comments on YouTube. I have made a change and hope that people can leave comments now.

Emma does have significant classical training from both her parents who are also classically trained. She can sing pop and jazz and does fairly often, but Over the Rainbow is such a demanding song that I'm sure she needed to reach into her classical singing toolbox and pull out some techniques to help her over the tough parts.

I have tried to sing this song myself and have never been happy with my own renditions, so I know this is a tough song. Emma makes it seem easy.

I hope you are well Bert and thank you for your kind words!

Thank you Ray! Much appreciated!

Yes, Emma has had quite a bit of classical training, having grown up in a house with mom and dad both classically trained. And I agree, she does have an amazing voice.

Thank you for taking time to listen and comment! I hope all is well for you!

Hi Ray!

First, thank you for the kind comments! They are greatly appreciated! And I'm so glad you enjoyed this.

Second, it sounds like you have some very accomplished daughters! You are a lucky and very fortunate dad! And good for your daughters, too!

I do think good singing voices do tend to run in families, like so many other talents that have to be developed.

I hope your move to Oregon goes well, Ray! Take care and be safe!

Thank you Roger!

You make me smile! I'm so glad you appreciate this performance from both Emma and I.

I heard Emma sing this at a big local event and afterwards I asked her if she'd like to record this and make a video and she said, "Sure!" So then we had to find the time, because she's a busy college student.

I went looking for something like the original Harold Arlen arrangement but all I could find was a version in a very old fake book that had only the verses and bridge but no intro and no ending. So I transposed the song to C and then worked up something. I'm so pleased that you like what I came up with. It was pretty challenging, which is why I look like I'm concentrating so hard. I did not want to mess this up!

I hope all is well for you and your family, Roger! Be well out there!
