Awww, you saw that huh? Ironically, that is the only one that does not need a cabinet!

Thanks, it will be sooo much easier to not worry about them as well as people being able to see them vs. a bunch of cases laying around!

Sorry Mike, I missed your post. Thank you very much. I don't know if I deserve it, but those guitars sure do with all the work that went into making them!

Sooo, it has been a while. Someone asked for a photo of the cabinet with some nice guitars in it. Well after a long trip to Texas with some guitars, a dog, and an SUV, some guitars finally found their forever home. I am back in NY working already, but I did travel with as many guitars I could fit in and still leave room for my traveling companion.

You may notice a change in appearance. I loved the cedar and its job was to absorb water and help then to maintain the humidity, but I ended up sealing it with two coats of poly as 1) it is really pretty and 2) the cedar smell was a little too much and taking away the individual smell of each guitar. So now the humidifier might have to work a little more, but the cabinet looks better IMO and the smell of the cedar is no longer over powering. So here are some pics of the cedar and then 6 beauties inside...in the end, it looks like it will hold 10 pretty well.

Very nice Tom. All those Kinnaird's and the Wilborn are looking cozy in there.

When I built my closet "guitarmidor", in doing research for the build, I couldn't help but to find more references to cigar humidification and cigar cabinets than anything else. While Cedar is indeed great for absorption and preventing moisture buildup, the other reason why it is used so prevalently is to help repel cigar worms. In my opinion, I think you did the right thing in coating it with poly. You don't want it repelling you! Hopefully the absorption won't be an issue. It is a fantastic cabinet!!

Thank you Fred, I really like the way it came out. It is really pretty at night with the LED lights on as well.

First of all, good eye picking out the Wilborn in there. You know your guitars!!! Not many would see that.

I remember your closet you converted, I loved it and it is every bit as pretty as this if I recall. Re-claimed wood and some of your mom's art work as well if I remember right?

If it stays too humid in there, I know I can buy a desiccant to put in the corners as needed. I could have gotten a dehumidifier also, but I did not think I would need it, perhaps I was wrong. Time will tell, too humid is better than the opposite I believe.

Boy Tom, from the looks of things you should be getting a Christmas card every year from the Kinnaird brothers. They are really well represented in your gorgeous cabinet. Beautiful cabinet, beautiful guitars!

Well sadly, that was all I could fit in the car minus one that I left with Steve and Ryan for repairs (not a Kinnaird). The problem is trying to decide which 4 get a spot, I am embarrassed to say that there will be some over-flow... There is a Breedlove in there that will not make the final cut haha. Not saying it isn't nice, but it has some tough competition. I really need to put some up in the Marketplace.

Thanks Tom. Looked at the site. Beautiful work. Someday when I retired, perhaps I can have one.

Tom, some people joke about fruit cakes, but if done really well they are no joking matter. And it so happens that the best fruit cake on the planet is baked right betwixt me and thee. Well, your new Texas home anyhow. In Corsicana there is a bakery, Collin Street Bakery, that will make you a believer.
And if you are serious, we'll send you one happily!
Or have the next reunion there in Corsicana?!
