You know that dream where you discover that your house has a bunch of rooms you didn’t know about? That’s how it feels to add fingerpicking to your repertoire - suddenly there are just MORE ways to play your favorite guitars. I find that I naturally alternate my primary focus between flatpicking and fingerpicking, roughly every few months.

Plus it’s pretty easy to get started - Travis picking is accessible, versatile and pretty quickly satisfying, and a gateway drug to more complicated stuff. Anyway, that’s my pitch!
I’m 70 years old and far from competent as a flatpicker. So thanks for the tip but I’m not looking to go back to the starting line with my bare fingers. I’ll still be clinging to a pick when they tuck me in for my dirt nap.

Totally fair - and it’s not like any of us are going to run out of songs to play with a flatpick.

For anyone interested, I have worked on getting a decent pickup sound for my Waterloos for a fair bit..... here is a track I just posted in Show and Tell of my Waterloo X braced WL-14 run through a K&K and to my Tonedexter with a file made with my Neumann KM184 mic.

Hey, any other tuxedo finish (white guard on black paint) owners get the urge to draw a cartoon on their white guard, ala John Lennon and his Peace guitar?

I could also write something rude, not allowed on forums, about the awful team with black and white in my town and "No, just cos I bought a black and white guitar doesn't mean I barrack for THEM"

Sorry but it looks like such a nice drawspace.

P.S. did this in Photoshop, not the guitar!

I'm a bit late to the party but sign me up. I have a WL-12 serial # 1307. I bought it several years ago online. When it first arrived I didn't really like it and was going to send it back but after picking it up a few more times I started warming up to it and decided to keep it. So glad I did as it's now among my two favorite guitars. My other favorite is a custom Emerald X-7. I love my WL-12.

Got really into country blues and was on a mission to find a sunburst 14L with a firestripe guard. Then I somehow have six. Really don't feel like I want to play anything else.

I posted earlier in the thread but couldn't add photos at the time.

Here are a few of my WL-14X Scissortail. It was my first "nice" acoustic guitar and I really love the feel and the punchy tone. The curly maple back and sides are just lovely. It's my lightest guitar and every time I play it I am blown away by how loud it is for such a little thing.
