That's a beauty. Congratulations on your good deal!

What's that in the soundhole?

Nice to get a guitar like that with only $200 out of pocket. Congrats.

I traded an SG and vintage Marshall, that I wasn't using anymore for my OM-28. With nothing out of pocket.

A rosewood martin is a wonderful thing indeed.

Your Martin and Taylor are at close to opposite ends of the feel and sound continuum.

Handsome striated back, too.

What’s that soundhole pickup?

Yea, $2600 for nearly new. Even has a dark ebony fingerboard.

It’s just a korg sound hole tuner

Yes, the full black fretboard is becoming a rarity these days. I suppose the guitar world will get used to it. I’m not yet.

I like the “striped ebony” on Taylor’s. But something as classic and traditional as martin’s standard line and up looks odd without it. I feel like aesthetically the richlite may even be a better choice these days (and may be in the further). No snobbery here though. Hell the Taylor pictured has eucalyptus, which is pretty similar to rosewood but more dense. The 214CE I sold to make the Martin happen had the darkest ebony bridge and fingerboard.

Beautiful tonewoods on your new Martin D-28--Enjoy! IMHO, dreadnoughts don't get much better than the newer 2012 to current Martin D-18 Reimagined, and the new Martin D-28/HD-28 Reimagined.

P.S. When I came back to guitaring 15 years ago after almost a 20-year layoff, I was a Taylor basher but came to love the brand as much as I do Martin.

Thanks, I lucked out on the wood for sure.

I just liken the Taylor/Martin thing to traditional vs modern.
