Hi, Günther!
It will be great to see you in person for the first time, as I recall the email correspondence we shared. So glad you are coming! Travel safe, and definitely count on having an excellent weekend. Wait till you see Tom and Kathy’s home- it is truly majestic.

Apologies, Klaus- not Günther- I have another friend from Germany, who IS Günther, and I got your AGF user names mixed up.
Great to meet you today, and congratulations on finally getting your long awaited Joel Michaud guitar in your hands!

Hi Steve,
No worries 😉 at all...
I am really glad to have met you and all the other great crowd at BIG today. Such a wonderful guitarfestival - A BIG THANKS to Kathy and Tom for making it such a wonderful and mindboggling experience! ..and it only started

What better venue to have an NGD on top.
Now that I finally have it, I will resurrect the original build thread after my return to Bavaria next week.

Looking forward to tomorrow already!

Time to update this thread... Soon after I got home from the B.I.G. Show, my computer unexpectedly croaked-- dead as a door nail. I learned my lesson- NEVER buy a refurbished iMac from a third party seller. That took me out of the loop for awhile. I bought a new iMac, but the data transfer failed, and I had to send the new computer back and exchange for another one. Two weeks later, the bugs are pretty much worked out, and I'm back online.

I sold one of my guitars at the show. The Consort Rojo went home to Iowa with my good friends, Dr. Scott and Caitlin Faulkner. They already own the first guitar I built when I moved to Fairhope in 2017; now that guitar has a sister!

Here's Doc, enjoying a celebratory turn on his new guitar:

...And Doc's lovely wife Caitlin, who always has his back:

The current custom guitar project is a nylon string Crossover guitar, called the "Artemis" model, for another friend who already owns two Edwinson steel string guitars. His Forum name is Fast Jimmy. I just closed the box a couple days ago, and, while juggling some other projects, I'm ready to begin the binding work. The woods are the same wild-figured Padouk back and sides as on the Consort Rojo above, and the same Tunnel 14 Redwood top. It's an awesome wood combo, which I think will make a fantastic sounding nylon string Crossover.

I'll be posting more photos of Jim's Artemis Crossover build as the project continues. See y'all soon!

I agree: beautiful woods and a really striking rosette. The dark contrasts look great on the Tunnel 14 redwood. Eager to see how you continue to dress it up. Dave

Love the rosette as well but that Padouk will take the show under finish. Well done Steve!

Thank you, everyone. I just got two new binding router bits delivered, so it's time to dress this baby up! More pics soon to follow. Thanks for looking!

Hey Steve, let me pile on about that rosette. I love those accents of spalted “whatever”. (Maple?) And the whole composition looks “right” for a nylon string.
Kudos!

Thanks, Steve. Those tiles are spalted Maple. I'm making a segmented end graft with it also. My client for this guitar is asking for some very specific customizations, so this guitar will be well outside the normal specs for a "real" classical guitar. It'll be pretty unique...
