Some of that product is likely "gray market" that was meant to be installed in Chinese made guitars but got sidelined for one reason or another.
When you consider the factory markup, the importer markup, the distributor markup, the retail markup, it might accumulate to roughly 4x. If a lowend Sonitone equipped guitar retails for an extra $25 with a pickup, that pickup was sold to the factory for less than $10. At that price point there is not a lot of motivation to make counterfeits. I think for the price it is probably worth the risk.

eBay is the world-wide leader in cheap, counterfeit Chinese crap. They know their market ... people who are looking for the "bargain of the century" on something they can't afford to buy from legit sources.
This is NOT a rant about Chinese manufacturing, lots of good legitimate products come from there. My 10 year old Eastman dread being one of them ... but purchased here from a legit source.
