There's certainly something to that. I think that most of the important qualities in our guitar sound comes from our fingers.

Nice arrangement, the two guitars stay in their own space well.

I thought that the rhythm guitar was played in a sorta-electric manner, or could have been an electric easily without changing the vibe too much. That blues shuffle style was all some electric players could do when I was coming up. So maybe your friend heard the approach and associated it with electric guitar?

Yeah, that's kinda what I meant by "electric fingers."

It's not that far-off, really, from Louis Jordan jump or Freddie Green wood-choppin,' and in that kind of setting nobody really makes a distinction between acoustic and electric. The playing style's the same either way and the sounds are very similar.

I think it is fine as-is. I could tell it was an acoustic. I kept listening for the electric and never heard it.

That's kinda what I thought everyone would say, which is why I posted it here among people who listen to acoustic guitars a lot. Didn't mean for it to be some kind of "gotcha" exercise, and my apologies to anyone who felt like they got gotcha'ed.

I don't hear an electric guitar so I suppose it must be very low in the mix.
I think the sound you've gotten there between the guitars is fabulous and I wouldn't change a thing. But I think the accents and solo could use a bit more oomph.

It doesn't bother me. In all honesty I didn't hear an electric in there...even in my big speakers...am I missing something?

I would highpass the rhythm guitar though, it's fighting with the bass, which is fighting a little with the kick drum. You could sidechain a compressor on the bass keyed from the kick as a quick fix.

Like the tune & the feel. Nice work.

I don't like things to stick out -- I tend to do a first automation pass of a mix and then start turning stuff down. But between here and the real world you're like the ninth person to say that. I should take another swipe at it listening mono and quiet, and see if my opinion on the balances changes.

Late add: I listened mono and quiet. Yeah, that guitar stuff could come up a nano-gnat... or not. So I'm standing pat. Defiance! :-)

I wouldn't necessarily add more volume. I'd like to hear the parts I mentioned with more weight, more low-mids if possible. But you can't EQ frequencies that aren't there so maybe it's not possible.

I didn't feel like they were asking for more. They felt like they sat right where they needed to.

No, no. Not a problem. I just stumble in to work at 6:45am and the first thing I do is run through the AGF. When I get to a clip, I put it up on the big monitors (recording studio) and peer at them through the pre-coffee mfog of morning. I imagine I look a little like the dog from His Master's Voice... with a squint.
