I just run all the audio through my mixer as though I were playing a gig; just have to change the "source" setting in the software. I've seen others get outstanding results with high quality condenser mics, but you have to drop a few bucks. If you want to do a lot of vids, it might be worth it.

I've just begun uploading vids to youtube using a Logitec Quikcam Pro 9000.

Pd like $45, has a powerful built in mic and does a reasonable job.
Cheap vids!

I tried recording with Zoom H-2 at the first time now. After using camera's mic I was really satisfied of H-2's quality. Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z3Q_9iuIo4

So you sync camera for video and Zoom h2 for audio? Am I right?

YouTube recompresses the video and audio and the audio does seem to take a hit. But, maddeningly, I do hear some videos with excellent sound quality, at least to my ear. I'm still hoping to find a tweak that improves the result, but no luck so far.

Or for instrumentals, just one mic in the right place (hint: on the couch arm)

Ty, can you remind us of the model of camera you use, and a rough idea of the price?

Default youtube vids

I was wondering if anyone has used the Zoom Q3 or the new Alesis Videotrack to put up any vids? i hear the audio is very good with the Q3. I don't know anything about the Videotrack as it just came out. The simplicity of either of these sounds like a good thing to me.
