Default Martin Dread - Magical Amplified Sound Demo

I've been agonizing over not gigging my Martin Outlaw 17 Limited Edition. I had a K&K Pure Western Mini installed long ago because I didn't want to alter the acoustic sound of the guitar in any way. But the K&K always left me wanting even though I tried it through a Fishman Platinum Pro EQ, Baggs Align EQ, even the RedEye ...which was supposed to be amazing with the K&K. That was not my experience.

My local shop had a K&K Pure XLR Preamp so I decided to suck it up and buy one. Well ...., ...WOW. Its subtle in some ways, but transformative for me. This might be my best sounding amplified solution now. As many of you know, I am a huge fan of the LR Baggs Anthem and that is still true. But this is blowing my mind. What do you think?

In the demo, I played it acoustically so you can get a sense of its baseline acoustic sound. Then I played through the K&K PWM/Pure XLR Preamp into a Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge. (*Superb home amp!)

Comments are always welcome, good or bad. As always, there are a few clam notes for humility's sake. Lol

In all seriousness, it sounds excellent. Love that Mini Charge. I might need to get one for my music room.

What a sweet guitar, and I think you've found a winning combo with the K&K gear! Great playing too!

Gary...that does sound great. I've been using a Baggs Session DI with my K&K's but also have a Pure XLR K&K preamp. I'm just curious (if you don't mind sharing) about your setup regarding EQ on the preamp and the Fishman Charge. Many thanks!
By the way...the Outlaw is a stellar guitar. Great playing...thanks for sharing!

It was hard for me to discern the amp and pickup quality with the bleed. But you did say it was "unscientific". Certainly the amplified guitar tone didn't showcase some horrific midrange twang or anything off putting. When you play accurately like that pickups and amplifiers stand a chance...

That's a wonderful sound Gary. I'm just in love with that guitar.

I am still waiting for you to do something stupid like sell your fiddleback. I'm here when you'd like to talk!

Great guitar with a great sound. A great reason to use our good/best guitars when we want a great sound performing out or sitting at home.
