High Action
So I had this crazy idea to build a guitar, I’m not sure where it came from. I get the wood, and start. I did a red cedar soundboard, sapele back and sides, and a Spanish cedar neck. Everything was going relatively smooth until a glued the neck to the body. I didn’t make sure that the joint was level. I made the fretboard, which turn out beautiful. When that came time the glue that on there was approx. 1/2” dip in the joint. I got discouraged, and since I was working on my pilots certificate, I put the whole thing away for a couple months. On Dec. 2nd I took it out just to look at it, laid the the fretboard on the neck, and what really surprised me, was that there wasn’t much gap. Some, but I thought it was doable. So back to work. I did the French polish finish, which looks amazing. It was all going smoothly again til I strung it up. I filed the saddle down as much as a dared to, but the action is to high for comfort. It is playable, just not easily done. The guitar sounds to good to leave it. Is there any way i could lower the action without tearing the whole thing apart? I should have taken off and fix the neck while I had the chance, but I didn’t.
