I'm with you, I backed it off a bit on my D18 & it's just right, maybe even too dark....definitely not too bright(To my ears) I had one installed in an OM-2H and thought I would have to back it off but it's right on as is.

Having a screw also has the benefit of not accidentally moving it while you are playing or messing with your volume/tone controls.
