Shaky Town - redeaux
Some of you may remember I posted a recording, back in late April, of Jackson Browne's Shaky Town. I wasn't entirely happy with the vocals and even my wife said it didn't sound like me.
I had a nagging cough back then but it's been gone now for a couple of weeks so I thought I would finally rerecord the vocals for the song and now I'd like to get y'all's opinion on how it sounds. I sang closer to the mic this time, so there is no room effect on the sound. I wanted to add a little reverb but I just couldn't get anything to sound right, so I left it dry. I did play with some EQ but nothing drastic, though I still need to learn more about the controls. So, without further ado, Shaky Town, part II For reference, here's the original

I just realized I spelled "re-dough", not "re-do". Ooops.

I remember when you posted the original and I really like BOTH versions. In your original version your vocals aren't as crisp but I think it actually sort of matches the song being sung by a "grizzled touring veteran". Both are great, and the guitar sound REALLY nice. What kind of guitar is that??

Interesting take you had on the original version. My wife and an online friend of mine both could tell my voice wasn't right in the first version. Plus, there were some off-key parts that I really wanted to fix. But I'm sure you hadn't really heard my voice before so you got a different impression. Thanks for listening and commenting.

The vocals are much nicer in this one, sounds great! The other one was nice, but it just sounds better/clearer/more "realistic" that you are closer now. Really nicely done, on everything.
