Default First-ever acoustic recording

I've recorded my band many times in the past using a complicated interface, Cubase, tons of mics, etc. At one point, I just got tired of all the complexity and the steep learning curve. So I bought a Zoom H4n, which arrived on Friday. For the price and simplicity, the sound is fantastic! Anyway, I used my Goodall Standard to lay down a couple of samples.

Sounds good. Use a couple of external mikes through the Zoom and the recording sound will go up a few more notches.
Does sound like a Goodall. I would like to hear your Mustapick also.

I don't have anything other than an SM-57 at the moment. You think that'll sound better? I'll get some clips of the Mustapick soon. I actually don't have that guitar at the moment.

Probably not the SM-57 with the Zoom, rather a couple of condenser mikes (which ones is a whole other huge subject).

Ahh, would need two for stereo recording. Ok. I'll check into it.

Hi juston...
Nice recordings. What is your setup (H4 aimed how high off the ground, aimed at which part of the guitar from how many inches away?)

Hey Larry. I'm a complete acoustic recording novice. I was using a little 6 in tall tripod sitting on my coffee table. The H4 mics were pointed directly at the sound hole probably 2 ft away.

It took several months for me to find time (it's nearly impossible with a two year old), but here are some rough clips of the Mustapick. Sadly, I don't even have much time to keep my playing well manicured these days, so rough is definitely the operative word.

Very nice picking! The guitar has a very rich sound. The H4s do a great job but +1 on the external mics.
