Well I've had this one since 2012 and the same model one before that since 2008. Guess I have always been a different kind of "Harley Biker" and being basically "a loner" a club was never really in the cards for me

I tried watching it but couldn't reconcile a bad boy biker being pushed around by his mother.

Not to mention laundry, grocery shopping, housekeeping and childcare for his kids...

Underestimate the influence of the woman behind the man at your own peril :,,,regardless of familial configuration or personality of the male .

Interestingly enough the Mountain Men in this areas biggest fear, was being captured and handed over to the Blackfoot women.

I fully understand the role of a strong woman behind a strong man, but the relationship between Jax and his mother seemed very different than that. In my mind he depended on her for more basic maternal functions such as childcare for his kids, doing his laundry, buying groceries and cleaning his home. While he floated along on a whole other level of existence, others were left to do his grunt work and clean up the messes he'd created...

Interesting in real life she is the wife of the show producer Kirt Sutter who played the Otto character ( the one continually in prison ) so the cast smacked of the "family business" a bit like SAMCRO
I didn't know that Katey Segal was married to Sutter. She did a great role as Gemma.

Well I'm just having fun with the thread.

But if you want to get serious, "he depended" or she insisted ??? I could be wrong but I think that bazaar contrast was point ,,, I'm guessing the conflicted Jekyll & Hyde character of Jax and the skewed nature of his relationship with the mom, was not lost on, and intentional on Sutters part

But then again for me I watch TV to suspend reality, not psychoanalyze it past enjoyment. YMMV

As a wannabe armchair psychologist, dissecting characters is my favorite part. When someone says that so-and-so was a complex character to summarize, that's my starting point to better understand a character's motivations and foibles....

Speaking of characters, I watched Bad Blood on Netfix before Sons of Anarchy. It's about a Montreal crime family. Kim Coates is on both shows (Tig Trager) and he's the main character in Bad Blood. Just an outstanding job.

Actually IMO all the "characters" in Sons are pretty interesting and did a great job of being those odd persons..

Still got a couple of seasons to go, but have enjoyed it thus far. For anyone interested in how the original biker gangs got going, I highly recommend Sonny Barger's book 'Hell's Angel'.

I was a fan of Kurt Sutter's writing from The Shield so SOA was a natural. But whereas The Shield's bad guys (masquerading as good cops) was somehow palatable I had a really hard time with SOA.

I wanted to like them and root for them but I couldn't reconcile that they were basically just thugs and criminals. That said, I did watch the whole show and it was okay. But unlike shows I really like and watch over again at some point, I'll never give SOA a redo.

As for other shows I like to watch: About to hit the latest season of The Blacklist, The West Wing was an all-time favorite as is The Wire. I really liked House and got a kick out of Lucifer.

SOA was great, but Justified beats
It, in my opinion. Longmire was better too.

Second season of Justified and first season of Fargo are, IMO, perfect....
